Playing football themed games

There is no question that football is more popular now than it has ever been, with more families attending matches – thanks to the better facilities and all-seater stadiums – and a genuine global interest in leagues like the English Premiership – due mainly to the presence in it of star players from all countries and the screening of matches live across the world.

However, although this has been beneficial to football in lots of ways, it is hard to dispute that something has also been lost – something those who were fans before the 1990s will be particularly aware of. It is these fans who could find a video slots game like Shoot fits the bill pretty nicely.

For instance, although to some the name ‘Shoot’ that this slots game has been given, will not mean much beyond being a generalised football reference, but for older British fans it will instantly conjure up memories of the famous magazine of the same name. The game is billed as taking you back to “football’s golden era”, and this is backed up by the Trade’em up and Magazine bonus games. Read more “Playing football themed games”

WENGER WANTED VILLA

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has been disappointed with the failure to sign the Barcelona striker David Villa after the Spanish club categorically said that the striker is not for sale. The former Valencia man is currently frustrated after a spell on the sidelines. He has not been a first-team regular under the management of Tito Vilanova, despite having completely recovered from the tibia fracture he suffered almost a year ago. As a result, Villa has clearly stated that he would like to leave Barcelona in the January transfer window in order to get regular first-team football.

However, Barcelona have been unwilling to sell the player due to lack of replacements. There has been a feeling that Arsenal needed another striker in order to compete with the club challenging for the top four positions. The lack of a goal scorer to replace Robin van Persie has been sorely felt by the team this season. Villa is one of the renowned goal scorers in the world, but Wenger has been unable to get the striker because Barcelona have been adamant that they will not sell the player. Wenger has also said that there is unlikely to be a great deal of movement in the final few days of the transfer window for Arsenal.

“Barcelona do not want to sell David Villa, they have made that very, very clear. What is important is that you bring in people to strengthen your squad or you are strong enough to do nothing. Bringing in anyone is to me what the modern game has become,” said the Arsenal manager. Wenger has also ruled out the possibility of negotiating further with the Spanish club, with whom Arsenal have done plenty of business over the last few seasons. Recently, Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas were sold to the Spanish club by Arsenal.

VILANOVA RETURNING TO TREATMENT

The Barcelona president has revealed that the manager Tito Vilanova will be returning from his cancer treatment in January. Barcelona have been dealt a major blow with the news that the manager Tito Vilanova is suffering from cancer, which has come as a major shock to the world as well. The 44-year-old only recently took over as the manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world from Pep Guardiola. He has already had a hint of cancer back in 2011 and underwent surgery. Now, he has had a recurrence of the problem and will be missing a major chunk of the season.

However, due to the fact that there is no football in Spain during the Christmas and New Year period, Tito Vilanova will not be absent from the Barcelona touchline for a long period. Barcelona have made one of the best starts to a la Liga season under the regime of the new manager, as they have dropped just two points in the 17 matches so far. As a result, they have a nine-point advantage over the second placed team Atletico Madrid, while the main rivals Real Madrid are a massive 16 points behind them in the table, which makes Barcelona the odds on favourite to win the title this season.

“He’ll be back within 15 or 20 days but he must spend some days at the hospital and rest. He will mix work with his treatment. The most important thing is his health. Right now football comes second,” said the Barcelona president Sandro Rosell in a recent interview. All the members from the club have said that the return of the manager in full health is far more important than the football. The Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was recently sported having a T-shirt in support of the manager.
